Explore Spreads

Every reader has their own “toolkit” of spreads they choose from when working with seekers. The following list is meant to be both a reference point for seekers who are interested in learning about the types of readings I offer and as a resource for other readers who want inspiration for their own work. These are my tried and true tools!

My reading method involves weaving together the insights I glean from the cards with  information about number themes (tarot numerology) and relevant astrological transits that may be impacting the situation at hand. Read what clients have said about their experience here!

If you would like a reading using one of the spreads listed below, you can contact me at sansoucieink@gmail.com or purchase a reading here.

Note that some of the spreads below are offered as written reports. The bigger spreads that involve more than 6-8 cards are currently only offered by phone or in person. The proper links for those offerings are provided below each description.

Celtic-Cross

THE CELTIC CROSS is a great starting point for seekers who are new to tarot, haven’t had a reading in awhile, or who would like begin a reading with a broad look at their situation. The cross can take a reading in many directions because the card positions cover so many aspects of a story. For “general” readings, where the seeker isn’t sure what they want to ask about or where to begin, it can help us zone-in on an area that seems to need illumination. If you ask about a specific situation, this spread can give lots of information about where things are headed. I read crosses in two layers, the traditional and what I call the “body” reading, where the center of the cross becomes the head (the goal), heart (the present), guts (the challenge), and feet (what you have)- all facing the future, represented by the set of cards to the right

How to get it: The cross can take 20-30 minutes to go over. I offer this spread in 30 minute and 1 hour phone readings, as well as during in-person sessions.

THE SIMPLE CROSS is a great tool for getting to the root of specific questions. As mentioned above, the center of the spread can be read both the traditional way and as a “body” (see my Celtic cross description). The simple cross is more to-the-point than the 10 card Celtic and covers a 3 month period of time. It is a good alternative to the relationship spread I describe below.

Time: The simple cross can take 10-15 minutes to go over.

I offer this spread in 30 minute and 1 hour phone readings, as well as during in-person sessions. It is good for parties of up to 10 participants.

THE RELATIONSHIP READING gives a multifaceted view of the dynamic between two people in any type of partnership, whether it be lovers, friends, co-workers, or family. I’ve even used this reading for seekers who want to know how they can be healthier in relation to themselves! The spread covers the lesson the seeker will learn in this relationship / period of time, the role the partner plays in this lesson, the way the partner feels about the seeker, their intentions in the relationship, the short-term outcome, and the subconscious energy of the seeker.

Time: This spread usually takes 15-30 minutes to complete (depending on the clarifiers / further draws).

I also offer this spread in 30 minute and 1 hour phone readings, as well as during in-person sessions.

img_3101THE DIRECTION SPREAD is excellent for situations where the seeker has a decision to make or wants to see their options more clearly. The bottom cards are the seeker’s resources. The middle row is broken up into 2 or 3 groups of cards that represent their options or paths. The top row is the outcome, which can, depending on which cards appear there, give an indication about the most beneficial path ahead. This spread often comes in handy for “should I stay or should I go?” moments or choosing between job offers, homes, or lovers.

How to get it: The Direction reading often takes between 20-30 minutes. I offer this spread in 30 minute and 1 hour phone readings, as well as during in-person sessions.

THE WHEEL OF THE YEAR can be used to get a sense of the themes the seeker will experience at the new year or at the time of their solar return (birthday / their personal new year). The wheel begins during the month when the reading is given and a card is pulled for every month until the following year. The cards at the center of the spread are the first cards drawn, and they represent the main theme and the main challenge of the year ahead. Clarifiers are often drawn to explore the monthly themes more deeply.

How to get it: The Wheel reading often takes 30 minutes. I offer this spread in 30 minute and 1 hour phone readings, as well as during in-person sessions.
